1933 New York Subway Baked Enamel Car Number Sign 704: 16.5x10 inches

This is a baked enamel and painted car number sign, 704.

Sign is 16.5x10 inches in size.

Car #704 was built in 1933 by the American Car and Foundry Company.

This sign came from trains that operated between the 1930s and 1970s on the lettered routes. The IND started service in 1936. Shortly after, the City of New York annexed control of the other, then-private, subways. While the operations remained distinct at first, services were realigned to share tracks.
