1960s IRT New York Subway Sign w/Routes: 5 LEX 6 PELHAM, 14x28 inches

This New York Subway sign is 14 inches wide and 28 inches long. It is made of a cloth-like material called Vellum.

Routes are: 5 - LEX, 6 - LEX-PELHAM

Both the 5 and the 6 Trains of the IRT use the East Side, Lexington Avenue subway. The 6 train is typically an express through the Bronx and a local in Manhattan, terminating at City Hall/Brooklyn Bridge.

Some tape repairs were made. Please carefully review the photos before making your purchase.

This sign came from trains that operated on the numbered subway routes. Many series of cars featured similar characteristics, including the signs. These trains were affectionately called, "Red Birds."
