1968 RedBird New York Subway Sign w/ Destinations: 59th ST LEXINGTON AV, 22x30 inches

$149.00

This New York Subway sign is 22 inches wide and 30 inches long. It is made of a cloth-like material called Vellum.

This sign was purchased in a collection of unused sign sections that have never before been stitched into a roll of signs, nor placed into the trains. This section is MINT!

The printing is duplicated because the same sign roll was meant to show the destination to the inside and platform passengers at the same time.

The sign is in fantastic condition for its age.

Destinations are: East 177TH STREET PARKCHESTER (Bronx), 59TH ST LEX. AV. (Lexington Avenue Subway, Manhattan)

This sign came from trains that operated on the numbered subway routes. Many series of cars featured similar characteristics, including the signs. These trains were affectionately called, "Red Birds."
